Echoes of Outlander
Outlander is a historical drama based on Diana Gabaldon’s novels, developed by Ronald D. Moore and premiered in 2014. It stars Caitríona Balfe as Claire Randall, a Second World War nurse transported from 1945 to 1743 Scotland, where she meets Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a Highland warrior who draws her into the tumult of the Jacobite rising.
Scotland’s landscape is central to the show’s power. The rugged Highlands provide the perfect backdrop for its blend of time‑travel romance and history—from the standing stones of Callanish and the glens around Kinloch Rannoch to the haunting expanse of Culloden Battlefield. These settings, now iconic to fans, lend the story its realism and emotional weight.
Inspired by this union of story and place, I create Outlander‑influenced photographs and designs, drawing on moody skies, ancient stones, and windswept hills to echo the show’s themes of romance, time, and longing while celebrating Scotland’s enduring natural beauty in my own way.
